What's the Deal with the Axion 7 inch LCD TV?
You've heard a few people talking around town and at the golf club about the Axion 7 inch LCD TV-so what's the deal? Okay, so maybe you haven't heard that much talk about Axion, but you're most likely curious about brands and decided to do a little research on the subject. Axion has been around as a manufacturer of portable TVs, clocks, radios, and media players for 26 years now. Since it opened its doors in 1983, that's pretty much all they've done; manufacture gizmos that fit in the palm of your hand. Due to "private labeling" (manufacturing for other brand names) you've probably owned an Axion product in your lifetime and never even knew it. Foreseeing a shift to digital programming and HDTV technology, Axion invested heavily into the research and development of its LCD line of portable monitors and tuners. The result was Axion becoming a leader in TFT (thin film transistor) LCD technology. They've been making it thin and light for a long time now. There is a thriving market out there for personal entertainment electronics. It has never been easier to stop what you are doing and take in a movie or just plug in some headphones when the boss isn't looking and jam some tunes. Almost all of the major manufacturers are trying to take advantage of more compact, lighter electronics packages and market them to the consumer. Axion concentrates almost entirely on personal entertainment. So when they manufacture an Axion 7 inch LCD TV, it will be top drawer and affordable because that's all Axion does. It's much the same as ordering a burger at a burger stand versus ordering in at a steakhouse. The steakhouse burger will cost you more because you had the option to buy a steak and didn't. At the burger stand, that's all they do and can afford to do it cheaper. Another result of doing just one thing is simply that if the focus is on just one thing, the end result is better. To further their commitment in "keeping it personal," Axion's product lines feature dual screen portable DVD players in the 7-8" screen range, digital picture frames, and handheld LCD TVs. The Axion 7 inch LCD TV comes in widescreen as well to allow more viewable screen when watching letterbox format movies. Now that's pretty handy! All of their portable TVs come with a built-in rechargeable Lithium-Polymer battery which has a longer life than alkaline batteries. They also come standard with A/V jacks to allow for external input from say, a DVD player. Nearly all of their portable TVs have hi-res picture and free external antennae for better reception. Axion has been around for a long time and it looks like they are going to be around a lot longer. Another added benefit to owning an Axion 7 inch LCD TV or any of their products, is that they support their own products as well. This means that if something goes wrong, you have a live person to talk to. I guess there's more to "keeping it personal" than making a TV with headphone jacks. |
